Of course, we had a lovely couple of nights at Cosy Corner, just lazing, cooking, and taking walks along the beach. This morning we packed up and left by around 10.00 a.m. It was cloudy and almost raining, which perhaps made it easier to go. We had some van services to do, then headed for Middleton Beach. It was warmer than on Australia Day, but similarly cloudy, though we had a little sunshine later.

Frederick and Sherine had told us about a jazz session at the Three Anchors, the restuarant, kiosk, pub on the beach startin at 3.00 p.m. We wanted to see them one last time before leaving and although we didn’t have much of a chance to talk it was at least a chance to connect and say goodbye. They are coming to Perth for a little while, then going on their way to Adelaide, Alice Springs, Darwin, Queensland, then back to New South Wales, their home state. It sounds an exciting year, but they know some of the things they’d like to do may not happen. But, it’s good to have plans.

I was rejoicing in the hooks and rod across the back of the van which has proved very handy for drying towells, as well as being useful for the lace curtain/bug screen, but this morning one of the hooks came off. I realise why, it was the first hook I put up and I made a mistake and put it upside down. It was bound to fail sooner or later. It’s easily fixed, of course, but perhaps not now when we are almost at the end of our trip.

We have to be in Perth on Wednesday to drop off the van at Ken Peachey. Stephen suggested we stay at Kendenup again and I felt it was a good option and it would mean we would have done about the first 80 kms of our trip home. We had to leave the jazz early to get on our way, but I was feeling quite energetic for the drive and we were here by about 6.30 p.m. I cooked a meal whilst Stephen took a shower. The camp host remembered us. He had a checkin code for us this time and we have to wear masks when going to the toilet block. Just a little change from last time.

We talked with Matt on Facetime when we were at the pub and he smiled when I told him that we would see him in person next week. We asked his staff to put it in the diary.

It’s quite cool here in Kendenup and I’ve checked the weather for our journey home and Tuesday night should be fairly cool as well, we are just fortunate as anywhere we could stay for Monday night could be hot at this time of year. It will be hot in Perth on Wednesday, but that won’t matter as we will have air conditioning.
